Biography
Growing up in an oil compound in the Middle East in a tight-knit community of many different ethnicities, religions, and classes, I experienced not how different, but how alike we all are. This upbringing instilled in me a sense of responsibility towards my greater global community. Driven by a desire to give back to the world, I am now pursuing a career in international development. My various work experiences have shaped my approach to development. At ExxonMobil, I gained an appreciation for the discipline and efficiency of the private sector. Working for a small NGO in China, I learned to broker deals between seemingly incompatible interest groups. At the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), I helped build partnerships with for-profit corporations to enhance USAID’s development efforts.
In my future career, I will continue to align traditionally divergent parties to work together to achieve greater development impact. I am pursuing degrees in both public and business administration in order to more effectively bridge the unnecessary chasm between the public and private sectors. Similarly, learning from diverse perspectives and leadership styles through the Zuckerman Fellowship Program will enable me to better coordinate different groups in the future. The world’s most pressing problems are too great for anyone to solve alone. I aim to lead different sectors, industries, and communities to work with each other to tackle them.
