Eligibility Requirements
Candidates for the Zuckerman Fellows Program are individuals who have, or are pursuing, an M.B.A., J.D., or M.D. degree from an accredited U.S. institution AND are seeking an additional degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, or the Harvard School of Public Health.
- Candidates who have completed their M.B.A., J.D., or M.D. degree are eligible.
- Candidates who are working on their M.B.A., J.D., or M.D. degree are eligible.
- Candidates who are planning to begin an M.B.A. or J.D. degree at Harvard University along with their public service degree are eligible.
Fellows are required to have at least one year of their business, law, or medical degree completed when they begin their Fellowship year, except students admitted to a joint degree program at Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government. These students will take their fellowship during the first year of the joint degree program.
Candidates must be citizens of the United States.
Fellows must be admitted to their programs at the Graduate School of Education, the Kennedy School of Government, or the School of Public Health in order to take up the Fellowship.
Fellows must be in their first year at the Graduate School of Education, the Kennedy School of Government, or School of Public Health during their Fellowship year.
In most cases, Fellows are required to be in full-time residence at the Graduate School of Education, Kennedy School of Government, or School of Public Health during their Fellowship year.
Fellows are required to participate fully in the co-curricular program during their Fellowship year.
Zuckerman Fellowships may not be deferred except in specific circumstances where students are entering joint or concurrent degree programs in both their professional and public service fields at Harvard. Students admitted to joint or concurrent degree programs may defer their Zuckerman Fellowship for ONE year while they complete academic work at the Harvard Business School, Harvard Law School, or Harvard Medical School. All requests for deferral must be discussed with and approved by the Committee on General Scholarships.
Please note: The requirements of the joint and concurrent degree programs at Harvard University vary from program to program.
Students in joint degree programs at Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government may not defer their fellowship.
Students who are pursuing a joint degree at Harvard Law School and the Harvard School of Public Health must take the Zuckerman Fellowship during their second year at Harvard.
